In the biggest item of the week we have some really good news on the casting front. More later when all the details are worked out.
Round 3 of location scouting and knocking on some doors of places I’m interested in Friday. I’m looking at a few areas for the road scenes, houses, and other grainery locations. I’ll post some pics as they become locked in.

On a little bit of a “good and bad news” note, we made a festival short list with COLLINSVILLE for a national film fest but ultimately we didn’t get in. I found out Tuesday. It was a military film fest that I did really want to get into, but I guess it wasn’t meant to be. I did get a nice e-mail (besides the standard rejection letter) from the head of selections saying how much she liked the film (with specific mention of scenes and the story/direction/design) and how close we came, but that almost made it sting a bit more. We’re hoping for better luck this summer and fall. Many more fests then. Best of luck to the fest and those who did get in however, as you can’t live a happy life holding grudges.
We are planning on screening the film in mid-June at an open screening in Milwaukee. It’s called FIRESTARTER FILMS and they have a bi-monthly film “open mic” night (which is a great idea in general.) They would like us to screen it there and we would love to do that. It will be the first screening with an audience made up of people we mostly do not know. So that could be interesting. We also really hope to clean-up on the sound before that event. We never had a first rate shot at that yet…
Here’s a link to there event/venue site:

I’ll post more info on it as we get closer.
One other item, we’re going to redo the look of this journal to bring it more into the look of the site. We currently edit and host on blogger which doesn’t allow for much customizing. My friend Josh said he could bring it all into our site so that it’s an actual connected page. That way the navigation bar from the main page will be on here so you can go back and forth easier. And as we make more films we’ll then have connected and uniform pages for them which will then go to any external sites.
Trust me, it will look great.
